Day 2: Colombo

Tour Colombo, including the Fort District and Pettah Market. Visit a Hindu temple, Kelaniya Buddhist Temple, the Dutch Wolvendaal Church and the Dewatagaha Mosque.

Day 2: Colombo

Day 3: Colombo to Dambulla via Sigiriya

Depart for Dambulla, visiting Sigiriya en route to climb Rock Fortress or ‘Lion Rock’.

Day 3: Colombo to Dambulla via Sigiriya

Day 4: Dambulla to Trincomalee

Travel to the village of Hiriwadunna and take a walk (approximately 3 hours) along the banks of an artificial reservoir, passing local farms, villages and dense bush where you may spot elephants and monkeys. Drive to the beachside town of Trincomalee.

Day 4: Dambulla to Trincomalee

Embark on a morning whale watching cruise (May to November only), beginning at Foul Point and sailing south. Outside of May to November, touring of Kinniya Bridge will be substituted for whale watching.

Day 5: Trincomalee

Day 6: Trincomalee to Kandy via Dambulla

Travel back to Dambulla and tour the Rock Temple. Continue to Kandy, visiting a spice garden at Matale en route for a cooking demonstration. Upon arrival, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of the most sacred Buddhist sites in the world. Watch a cultural dance performance while enjoying dinner this evening.
 
Travel back to Dambulla and tour the Rock Temple. Continue to Kandy, visiting a spice garden at Matale en route for a cooking demonstration.
